Judge Rules Jack Kirby’s Heirs Have No Claim to Marvel Copyrights
A New York federal judge ruled today that the heirs of the late Jack Kirby, creator and co-creator of such enduring Marvel Comics superheroes including the Fantastic Four, X-Men, the Hulk and more, have no legal claim to the copyrights of those characters. Judge Colleen McMahon issued a 50-page decision that took pains to make clear that regardless of whether Kirby was the creator or co-creator of the works in question (which he was), she determined his labors were performed as work-for-hire under the conditions of Copyright Act of 1909.
As such, Marvel and its parent company Disney remain the full owners and in complete control of Kirby’s creations, and may continue to exploit them as they see fit.

So recently I’ve seen posts about the usage of whether or not to use the Oxford Comma. I remember coming across the dilemma in the 8th grade. My teacher then illustrated to the class why it makes more sense to use it. And so I pass on that knowledge to my followers.
I will never stop using the Oxford Comma.
Reblogged for truth.
My mom has an amazing book where the title demonstrates this. It’s called “Eats, Shoots & Leaves” where you could mean eating shoots and leaves or eating, shooting, and then leaving
Oxford comma for life.
Exactly.
I always wondered why some people didn’t put another comma after “and” which confused me, but I still add it. How I was taught. :P
I like Vampire Weekend, but I care for the Oxford Comma.
This whole Oxford Comma thing is a bit crazy. It’s just punctuation. It’s not gunna kill you or anything, so why get rid of it. SERIAL COMMAS FO’ LYFE!Journalists from the Pacific Daily News do not use the Oxford Comma to save ink. :P
This is one thing that I completely agree with. I love the Oxford Comma simply because it clarifies things.
End Of An Era of the Day: Space Shuttle Atlantis, manned by Commander Chris Ferguson, Pilot Doug Hurley, and Mission Specialists Sandy Magnus and Rex Walheim, charged into space this morning for the very last time.
Atlantis’s final launch was also the last launch of NASA’s 30-year Space Shuttle Program. “The shuttle’s always going to be a reflection of what a great nation can do when it commits to be bold and follow through,” said the Commander Ferguson just before lift off. “We’re completing a chapter of a journey that will never end. Let’s light this fire one more time, and witness this great nation at its best.”
The crew will spend 12 days at the International Space Station attaching additional parts, including a room filled with a year’s worth of provisions, and conducting various experiments.
Atlantis is scheduled to return to Earth July 20th.
